Meet Jonathan Schwarcz

Jonathan Schwarcz is an experienced civil litigator with a broad practice spanning construction, public law, insolvency, financial services and personal injury disputes. Admitted to the bar in 2012 after an eight-year nursing career, he brings a practical, people-focused perspective to complex matters.

Jonathan began his legal career with a large law firm in New South Wales, where he worked in the investigations and inquiries team on the Archdiocese of Sydney's response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Since returning to New Zealand, Jonathan has developed his litigation practice through roles at a large national law firm, the Auckland office of the Crown Solicitor for Wellington, and two boutique commercial litigation firms.

Jonathan has acted in construction disputes, including adjudications, mediations and civil claims; administrative and public law matters, including inquests, judicial reviews and regulatory prosecutions; insolvency proceedings for liquidators, creditors and debtors; financial services claims for major domestic and offshore providers; and ACC reviews and historical claims against institutions arising from childhood abuse.

Jonathan has also gained significant in-house experience through secondments with the Archdiocese of Sydney, ACC, BNZ and the Climate Change Commission. Jonathan also has a strong interest in cross-border litigation and, together with Her Honour Justice O'Gorman, is the co-author of the New Zealand chapter of *International Execution Against Judgment Debtors*.
