Meet Rebecca Selby

Director

Rebecca Selby is a highly experienced litigator with more than 15 years in the field. She has represented clients in the District Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. Her area of practice spans commercial litigation, construction disputes, and insolvency matters, where she is known for her clear thinking, strategic approach, and steady hand under pressure.

Rebecca began her legal career in London, working at a specialist property litigation firm where she advised and represented investors with substantial property portfolios. After nine long winters in the UK she returned home to New Zealand and joined a boutique litigation firm in Auckland, focusing on complex commercial and insolvency disputes.

In 2022 Rebecca joined Russell van Hout, drawn by the firm’s commitment to direct, commercially grounded legal advice. She acts for a diverse range of clients—from corporates to individuals—helping them navigate disputes with clarity and confidence.

Outside of work, Rebecca’s time is devoted to her most demanding client: her teenager. When she’s not driving to sports practices or washing sports uniforms, she’s likely planning the next family adventure or sneaking in a quiet moment with a good book.
